Women have been serving and dying in support roles for our military going all the way back to our countries founding. My question isn't whether or not they can do the job on the front lines but if they should. I may be old fashioned saying this but it seems society is healthier when it puts a premium on protecting women. I believe this attitude promotes respect for women and what they mean and do for society.
Will we be looking at this as a victory for women in ten years only time will tell but I doubt it.

i know you'll be surprised that i disagree with you on this ;) . i never understood why women _weren't_ allowed to serve in combat, so i've always come at it from the pov that they were being refused the opportunity for no real reason i could understand except the men in charge wanted it that way. i'm pleased to see the change.
