Privacy

In Norway a new law went in to effect this year. This law makes every one's income and tax records public knowledge. I would prefer to decide myself what is told about me or not.

Does a government have a right to disclose personal data?

  1. What is the purpose behind that? I agree with you... I very much value my privacy, I don't like the sound of that sort of law. I'm wondering what the argument on the other side is, though.

There are already so many things that are public record, and while I understand some of it, I don't like it. In the past, when we first bought this house in my wife's name, she received strange mail from convicts who were able to find her name in public records, figured she was single... I didn't much care for that.
