Question?

How big does a gift have to be to be concidered a bribe in connection with a public official

  1. I'm not sure a specific dollar value is the right answer. A first term congressman may be influenced by X amount. A senator worth 100 million may be more influenced by something that isn't of material value. This is tough one to answer. Maybe the truth is the proof is in the pudding meaning find the quid pro quo then you have a crime.

  2. Bill, It was the list of gifts given to public officials in cuyahoga co. that got me thinking about this dinners, sporting event tickets, trips to Vegas. I could see where a dinner out or a ball game might be a good place to discuss business. It's these smaller gifts that make it hard to discern if favors were actually bought
